Fun For Everyone!
What instantly stood out to me at this year’s Day of Cosplay was the incredible sense of inclusivity. From the moment I arrived, cheerful volunteers welcomed me, helped me find my way, and set the tone for the whole event. Even random students jumped in to make sure everyone felt like they belonged.
It’s a totally different vibe from a massive conventions I usually frequent. This one feels personal. Here, people actually know each other. Here, you’ll find friends, families, and longtime connections built through school, clubs, and shared passions. That natural sense of community creates a relaxed, almost family-gathering atmosphere that you just don’t get at larger cons. It’s warm, it’s genuine, and it reminds you exactly why cosplay brings people together.
The panels were wonderfully cozy, sometimes you’d often end up seated beside the same Mario Brother from your last session or spotting the same Hollow Knight who dominated the K-pop dance battle. During a sing-along, you might even find yourself befriending Tigger and Mira, and before long the three of you are wandering to the cafeteria like you’ve known each other for ages.
It’s the kind of easy, unexpected camaraderie that makes every hallway and classroom feel alive.
This con was truly built for fellowship and fun. I spent time with the anime club president, the emcee, cosplay judges, and the event directors, but fate clearly had plans, because I soon found myself in line with the club president’s mother! Stunning in fur, she was the picture of evil in a Cruella DeVille cosplay. And let me tell you, she was the warmest, kindest lady ever! Opposite of that infamous Disney villain. Watching her beam with pride for her daughter was genuinely touching. Moments like that, families of nerds celebrating together, are what make this event feel so heartfelt and special.
Amazing Camaraderie
If you’ve read any of my blogs before, you know one of the biggest recurring challenges at conventions is organization. Let’s be honest, pulling together a volunteer team once a year that remembers how to run informational panels, coordinate a fashion show, manage multiple live stage performances,
and host what’s essentially a pop-up marketplace is no small feat. (And while wearing elaborate costumes!) Most teams only do it once, maybe twice a year, which makes smooth execution feel a bit like magic. And yet, , this con pulled it off with a level of teamwork that genuinely impressed.
Turn Out Was Great!
It’s always wonderful to see lot’s of people actually show up to an event that people put so much effort into, but i was really impressed with the amount of people and costumes that came. I don’t know the exact numbers, but it was busy and lively, but not so much so that a cosplayer couldn’t find a corner to practice a k-pop dance, or make a tiktok in costume. The perfect balance!
Great Guests and Shows!
I’m always so impressed with anyone that can get up on stage and preform, but Day of Cosplay 2025 really had some amazing performances, CosplayRoulette, stunned the audience with flash and glamour. Next_Stage_Festivals
Next_Stage_Festivals (@Starfire.Official, @MangoMelodyLive, @Ultravioletidols, @ProjectAppleverse, @rini.rin.rin, @illixcite, @eos.idols, @yureimuse @lanterfoxminghao, @dreamtique.pro, and @Divincaidols) took the crowd on an adventure with their festive
Winter Wonder Fest! And their adorable duo Fruit Punch knocked us dead with their j-pop performance durring the cosplay contest!
Cosplay Contest!
You know here at FloridaComicCons our favorite part of any con is the cosplays and the cosplay contests! This year was absolutely amazing and I’m sure the judges really had a tough time of it!
The judges for this Day of Cosplays Contest were some of the best. Featuring the ever lovely
GoldChickadee, who’s passion for costumes and true love for each one always makes my heart warm (seriously, I always love working with Amanda! – Nilla).
If Chickadee is there, you know the brilliant and kind aestheticus.io is soon to follow! The vibe is always so good when aestheticus’s calm demeaner takes over a prejudging room. Always a pleasure to see them at work!
I haven’t gotten to know our next judge as well as I’d like, but MomoChrome.cos‘s reputation definitely proceeds them! Their cosplay commissions are gorgeous and the designs are always brought to life with sweet precision! They are an absolute perfectionist every time!
Last, but not least, and definitely one of my favorites is MabelHarleyCosplay (previously @PaladinMabel), I’ve had the unique pleasure of watching Mabel preform on numerous occasions, and from the first time I saw her dance as Coraline, to my most recent experience watching her wow the stage as God Tier Jade, it’s no surprise to me that she’s made it to the judges circle. Her work is full of love and joy, and her stage presence is a charming addition to the judges this year!
This cosplay contest had so many entrees, it was such a good show!
I loved every minute of it, and was lucky enough to get a front row seat and be blown away by the skill and showmanship these contestants all displayed!
Day of Cosplay may have wrapped up for the year, but the spirit behind it doesn’t fade when the music fades. Cosplay lives in every laugh shared between new friends, every proud parent cheering from the sidelines, every student who discovered a little more confidence behind a mask or a pair of foam-crafted wings. With the anime club thriving and the community growing
stronger than ever, it feels like the nerds didn’t just win the heart of the school, they reminded all of us what it means to celebrate creativity, and a sense of belonging. Even if it was just for a day, we all got to step into a world where anyone can become anything. And that magic? That stays with us long after the costumes come off.
Thank you Day of Cosplay!
