TRANSMISSION FROM THE OTAKUVERSE, BESTIES!
MiraiCon was amazing! Florida Comic Cons has officially entered its magical girl transformation sequence because we just beamed straight into the sweetest, most nostalgia-powered convention in the galaxy Miraicon 2025!
If conventions were anime genres, Miraicon would be a slice-of-life x magical girl crossover, cozy, cute, and absolutely dripping in early 2000s charm. Think: colored Game Boys, flip phones, naruto running in the halls, beanie babies instead of labubus, Twilight just came out, and the faint sound of a DDR pad off in the distance.
And we weren’t just attending, we were on the frontlines of the nostalgia overload hosting our fan-favorite Best Cosplay We See! competition! From sparkly magical girls to Y2K icons and manga we all miss, straight out of your childhood AMV playlist, the Miraicon floor was a full-on cosplay dreamscape.
Our cosplay scouting team roamed the vendor hall and artist alley. powered by free boba and pure sweet Con-made serotonin.
“I haven’t enjoyed myself at a con like this since before covid” – NillaCosplay.
Now, the real adventure continues back at Florida Comic Cons HQ, where our judging team, fueled by Pocky, Korean Butter chips, DandiesCandies, lo-fi beats, and post-con blues, is carefully analyzing every wig fiber, prop angle, and perfectly executed power pose.
🏆 Winners will include:
🌟 1 Top Cosplayer – our main character, radiating protagonist energy and precision craftsmanship worthy of a Kyoto Animation montage.
💞 2 Runners up! – because every supporting character deserves their own filler episode.
All 3 winners will snag free passes to future cons (yay for more adventures!) and eternal sparkle status in the MiraiCon Memories! !
Big thank-you hugs and digital heart emojis to our sponsor:
St. Pete Comic Con — respawning February 28–March 1!
And if you’re new here Best Cosplay We See! isn’t your average “walk the stage and pose” contest. Nope! It’s all about finding and celebrating creativity in the wild. No pressure, no stage fright! Just pure, unfiltered love for cosplay. Whether you’re rocking your first thrifted build or debuting a full armor set you’ve been crafting for months, we see you. We love you. You’re the reason fandom magic still feels like 2007 YouTube anime AMVs.
We patrolled Miraicon all weekend long from am to (very very late) pm, and it truly was blast from start to finish!
A Review from NillaCosplay
I may wear many hats here at FCC. I’m a writer, blogger, cosplayer, caffeine and cheese enthusiast, but one thing I’m certainly not is a convention newbie. I attended my first con at 13 (which, let’s just say, was several magical transformations ago), and I’ve been hooked ever since. From small-town gatherings in the heart of Wyoming (yee-haw, truly) to the electrifying chaos of San Diego Comic-Con, I’ve seen the full spectrum of fandom in motion.
And let me tell you, after two decades of attending, organizing, and occasionally wrangling wayward guests and cosplayers, I’ve learned one universal truth: every convention is equal parts fashion show, field trip, and Sunday megachurch service, somehow happening all at once after a year-long intermission. Often run by a team of volunteers (my heroes) who’ve never done anything quite like it before. It’s equal parts chaos and devotion, and pulling it off requires heart, grit, and a little bit of fairy dust.
Most conventions land somewhere between “good” and “getting there,” and that’s absolutely fine, greatness takes time. But Miraicon? Miraicon shattered that curve like, well, a magical girl. Miraicon got to finishing her transformation sequence and down to business.
Not to toot my own con-going horn, but as a long-time veteran, I was floored to learn this was Miraicon’s very first year. The organization was seamless, the staff was confident and communicated so well, and everyone seemed genuinely thrilled to be part of something special. Even when a question caught them off guard, they radiated the kind of calm assurance that tells you, “Don’t worry, we have good leadership and we’ll find out.” That kind of energy doesn’t just happen; it’s built by a team that cares deeply.
Everywhere I looked, the vibes were immaculate. Vendors were cheerful and well cared for, (oh! and yes, I asked!) guests were glowing, and attendees were absolutely living their best pastel, sparkly lives. My only real complaint? It was over too soon. If Miraicon ever decides to expand to a week-long event, I’ll be first in line. badge in one hand, boba in the other.
And here’s how you know it truly left an impression: I haven’t bought convention merch since 2015. But I bought the Miraicon t-shirt. Sure, it’s adorable (and soft, which matters), but more than that, for me it represents something rare. A con built on friendship, passion, and the kind of effort that reminds you why fandom feels like home.
Miraicon didn’t just meet my personal expectations, it sparkled right past them. I can’t wait to see how it grows. Because if this was year one, the future looks so bright.

There are cosplayers, and then there are those rare few who seem to weave magic itself into every stitch. Toast_saurus is one such soul. With the patience of an elven seamstress and the imagination of a dreamer, she brings to life creations that shimmer with determination and unspoken tales. Her needle is a magic wand, and the results are nothing short of enchanting.
Though she walks among us in the mortal realm, balancing a full-time profession and the ever-turning wheel of daily life, Toast carries within her the spark of the Fae. When her work is done and twilight falls, she transforms, a creator, a celebrant, a conjurer of joy. For when Toast hosts a gathering, it is no mere party… it is an event of legend.
Her recent Masquerade was a vision worthy of song. A grand night steeped in moonlight and merriment, where mortals and muses and all her friends, alike gathered. Each guest became part of a story: masked nobles, wandering adventurers, dancing in the glow of magic-made-real. DND themed drinks and marriment abounded as her party got to act out their session in real time.
And amidst it all, there was Toast, radiant, gracious host, the quiet heart of the revelry. She moves through her community not as a performer seeking praise, but as a kindred spirit weaving connection through every kind word and creative act. Her craft is not simply costume-making. it is storytelling.
Each new project she unveils has a promise of wonder, a whisper of the worlds yet to come. Whether it’s delicate embroidery that might have adorned an elven queen, or bold Genshin fit, Toast’s work bears the mark of someone who not only creates magic, but has magic in her work and through her friendships.
We await her next great chapter, when she takes the stage at the Holiday Matsuri Costume Contest this December 2025. If you find yourself among the crowd, lend your voice to her chorus and cheer her on!
For in a world too often dimmed by haste and noise, Toast reminds us that beauty, craftsmanship, and friendships are the truest kinds of joy.
MissTaurus_Cosplay has claimed our hearts for years in the cosplay community and the top prize of being a stellar person not just a crafty lady. You’d never know if it wasn’t for the immaculate costumes that this one is one of the most awarded cosplayers walking Florida soil. She’s a delight to be around and always willing to give anyone her ear and have a fun time!
She recently helped host the Miraicon cosplay contests and it was almost funny seeing her out of her complicated costumes and in her real hair and smile. But it was lovely. I think we here at Florida Comic Cons, and in the convention space often forget that people are just that. We are so very human, and MissTaurus_cosplay was quick to remind us that she’s talented, amazing and someone to look up too, but also kind. No matter how tired or long the event she always was the bright smile in every room.
MasakiPrincess!
SPOTLIGHT ON A HEROINE OF HEART, THREAD, AND TRANSFORMATION!
From the sun-soaked shores of Florida rises a cosplayer whose power lies not just in her needle and thread, but in the strength of her message. Introducing the visionary, the artist, the advocate: @masakiprincess!
An accomplished seamstress and decorated competitor on the cosplay circuit, @masakiprincess has earned recognition for her stunning craftsmanship, moving stage presence, that has brought many a crowd to tears. Beyond the satin, the sequins, and the expertly tailored silhouettes lies a mission far greater than any costume:
She’s a champion of body positivity and inclusivity, using her platform to advocate for representation across fandoms. Whether she’s commanding a stage or walking the con floor, @masakiprincess is rewriting the rules of who gets to be a hero, a queen, a warrior, or a magical girl.
With every stitch, she empowers others to embrace their own stories, in every size, every color, every shape, every background. She reminds us that cosplay is for everyone, and that true transformation begins within your heart.
“We’ve been honored to have her guest with us and really help us understand the struggles of those with chronic pain and other disabilities. She is a part of the reason our con’s are relocating to better suited and properly equipped venues” says the con manager of several St. Pete based conventions.
More than a cosplayer, she’s a movement.
More than a competitor, she’s a voice.
And in a world that needs more heroes she leads by example.
Stay tuned for the winners, and until next time! Keep your masks high and your fandom loving heads raised higher!
