Though new to the competitive cosplay circuit they already are taking the stands with early wins at some of the top cons! DisastrousGooseHobbies has already left scorch marks on the scene.
Their specialty? Breathing life into the bad guys! From the shadowy helm of the Witch King of Angmar to other sinister standouts, they transform raw, humble materials into wickedly atmospheric works of fan-favorite fear.
Fueled by a lifelong love of the nerdy and notorious, DisastrousGooseHobbies doesn’t just make cosplay, they forge legends.
So the next time you see a towering villain stalking the con floor… look closer. It might just be DisastrousGooseHobbies, crafting chaos and stealing the show!
But DisastrousGooseHobbies doesn’t work alone, no they have a shining accomplice! Be sure to check out the_smoking_lamp_photography for some amazing shots of Goose’s cosplays!
“ I’ve known this Disastrous Goose with too many hobbies since Gencon of 2024. Upon meeting him I wont lie! I questioned if he had actually made his cosplay! The detail work and precision on the resin coating made me suspicious! It was just TOO GOOD. After several “Crafting-Tuesdays” as we called them, all though they tended to be more like “brainstorm, snack and procrastinate Tuesdays” I came to learn that Goose really is a master of his craft. With an attention to detail that puts me to shame! ” Nilla said.
“I was blown away by the things I learned from him and he really helped me make some of my own cosplays cleaner. Most of all we both urged each other to stop procrastinating. Which is a cosplayers worst enemy. Goose isn’t just a cosplayer though. He’s my friend and someone who has given me some awesome life advice, cosplay advice, and so many good laughs! I wish we got to see each other more, but I’m always proud to see him growing in his hobbies and moving forward with each new cosplay!” – NillaCosplay
congrats to the craftsmanship masters winner Yoshi.Cosplay!
Yoshi Cosplay has claimed the top prize in the Masters division of the Craftsmanship Cosplay Contest at Tampa Bay Comic Convention 2025. A major win that places her among an elite tier of cosplayers. Outside of Megacon Orlando, few Florida conventions carry the same nationally significant weight, making this a milestone moment.
The winning cosplay: Tigrex from Monster Hunter. “I love the game Monster Hunter,” she said. “You can spend hours hunting, gathering, making armor! Tt’s immersive and inspiring.” That passion fueled a build that took more than 900 hours (she quit counting at 900) over more than six months. “The character’s colors are vibrant and crazy,” she added (editor’s note: If you know Yoshi Cosplay, then you know that she also is vibrant and crazy-lol).
What makes this win even more impressive? The entire build cost just $200. As an example, she constructed the wings using cardboard (free), 3mm foam ($10), expanding insulation foam ($5), and aluminum foil ($2).
The physical therapist assistant from Spring Hill, Florida, has shown yet again that budget-friendly brilliance can be more important than a big budget. Learn more about her wing build and other examples of her talent on her Instagram!

SPOTLIGHT ON A HEROINE OF HEART, THREAD, AND TRANSFORMATION!
From the sun-soaked shores of Florida rises a cosplayer whose power lies not just in her needle and thread, but in the strength of her message. Introducing the visionary, the artist, the advocate: @masakiprincess!
An accomplished seamstress and decorated competitor on the cosplay circuit, @masakiprincess has earned recognition for her stunning craftsmanship, moving stage presence, that has brought many a crowd to tears. Beyond the satin, the sequins, and the expertly tailored silhouettes lies a mission far greater than any costume:
She’s a champion of body positivity and inclusivity, using her platform to advocate for representation across fandoms. Whether she’s commanding a stage or walking the con floor, @masakiprincess is rewriting the rules of who gets to be a hero, a queen, a warrior, or a magical girl.
With every stitch, she empowers others to embrace their own stories, in every size, every color, every shape, every background. She reminds us that cosplay is for everyone, and that true transformation begins within your heart.
“We’ve been honored to have her guest with us and really help us understand the struggles of those with chronic pain and other disabilities. She is a part of the reason our con’s are relocating to better suited and properly equipped venues” says the con manager of several St. Pete based conventions.
More than a cosplayer, she’s a movement.
More than a competitor, she’s a voice.
And in a world that needs more heroes she leads by example.
Stay tuned for the winners, and until next time! Keep your masks high and your fandom loving heads raised higher!
