Florida Comic Cons is back with another round of our fan-favorite Best Cosplay We See! and trust us, this lineup is a full buffet of talent, flavor, and flair. From spicy takes on anime icons to sweet surprises straight from your favorite fandoms, we’ve handpicked a platter of looks too good not to share.

This isn’t your usual “walk-the-stage-or-bust” cosplay contest. Best Cosplay We See! is all about celebrating creativity on the convention floor, zero pressure, all passion. It’s made for introverts, first-timers, and seasoned cosplay crusaders alike. No spotlights, just pure appreciation.

While we at Florida Comic Cons would love to speak with every contestant at length, time doesn’t always allow us to hear all the incredible stories behind each cosplay. We know how much passion, creativity, and effort, often including the makers blood, sweat, tears, (and the occasional hot glue burn), goes into every costume.
Though we couldn’t talk to everyone, we did have the chance to connect with some amazing cosplayers who shared the inspiration and hard work behind their designs. Here are a few of their stories!

Meet the talent behind this lovely Maria Robotnik Cosplay, @_Lyssa2029_. As tragic as this character is you know a lot of love goes into every portrayal of her, it took @_Lyssa2029_ a little under two months to make, all hand sewn with even the headband carefully covered to match the characters original screen concept. Putting the icing on the cake is her personal buddy sonic and handpainted shoes! @_Lyssa2029_ also explained to us that she’s got 3 more costumes lined up and is excited for the future as she continues to grow in her hobby!
This isn’t the first time we’ve been impressed by the incredible work of @Ostmen_draugr, and we’re sure it won’t be the last! With an impressive track record on the competition circuit and a strong community following, it’s no surprise they wowed us yet again.
This time, the concept came from his partner, who wanted to portray a classic princess. To beat the beastly the Florida heat (and skip the full fur ensemble), @Ostmen_draugr took a creative twist on the ABC series Once Upon a Time, bringing none other than Rumpelstiltskin to WasabiCon!
From the custom 3D-printed dagger to a beautifully hand-styled wig, the details in this cosplay are on point. But what really stood out? The incredible crocodile-like skin effect, crafted with latex and brought to life through expert makeup work. A true testament to his skill and dedication.
No doubt about it: you definitely don’t want to cross this Rumpelstiltskin and his Princess!
Just when you thought we’d seen the last of our jaw-dropping special effects makeup… surprise! @Klycm.cos stunned us with a wildly imaginative twist on Jujutsu Kaisen’s Ryomen Sukuna, and it’s a look that’s equal parts gore and adorable chaos.
Using pre-owned pieces as a base, @Klycm.cos brought this character to life through a passion for special effects. The final result involved a whirlwind of materials: fake blood (multiple types!), latex, body paint, and more makeup than you’d believe. Honestly, just reading the application process had our heads spinning!
And let’s talk about the star of the show: a once-sweet Hello Kitty plush, lovingly transformed with disturbing (their words, not ours!) SFX techniques to create a gory-meets-cute companion. The end result? Equal parts haunting and weirdly huggable.
To top it all off, they sent us some ridiculously cute fan art of Ryomen in Hello Kitty pajamas to show her inspiration! We’re crossing our fingers the artist gets back to us soon so we can share it, too. Until then, do yourself a favor and look up this wonderfully unhinged mashup. You won’t regret it! Milk_Cos, Angsty.Cos, & Our First Place Winner AlexssewsCosplay!
Milk_Cos absolutely sparkled when sharing the story behind their incredible build!
A self-proclaimed glitter enthusiast, Milk_Cos finds a way to sprinkle a little shine into everything they create, and this cosplay was no exception. From custom iron-on glitter patches to homemade glitter gel for both the wig and makeup, every inch of this costume was made to shimmer under the lights. It’s safe to say, subtle sparkle was on the Miku agenda, and we love how it came out!
But the magic doesn’t stop at the sparkle. This build was a true labor of love, taking over 90 hours of work and featuring a clever mix of secondhand and repurposed materials. Milk_Cos shared how proud they were of the variety of trim they used, each piece carefully chosen to bring extra texture and personality to the final look.
And let’s not forget the movement! The flowing skirt and dramatic bow tails were crafted with special care to twirl and spin beautifully, creating that picture-perfect moment every cosplayer dreams of.
Between the sustainable craftsmanship, the glitter-packed creativity, and the sheer joy poured into every detail, it’s clear that Milk_Cos doesn’t just make costumes, they make magic.
Angsty.cos brought pure elegance, and and deadly macabre to the stage with this breathtaking creation!
Draped in lace, layers, and romance, their cosplay radiated the energy of a gothic fairytale. With a makeup look inspired by a striking blend of the Queen of Hearts and Día de los Muertos, this “lady of love” commanded attention from the moment she appeared, lovely, deadly, and undeniably enchanting.
Though we only had a few brief moments to chat before the convention wrapped up, that was all it took to see just how much passion went into every stitch. The care in each touch of lace was impossible to miss. From the delicately placed feathers adorning her hat to the carefully repeated patterns woven throughout her chosen fabrics. Every element felt intentional, symbolic, and beautifully cohesive.
This wasn’t just a costume; it was a story told through texture, and craftsmanship Angsty.cos managed to embody the haunting beauty of a love that lingers beyond life itself.
Alexssewscosplay added just the right touch of dark enchantment. This Vil Schoenheit cosplay could stop hearts and turn mirrors green with envy!
Channeling the charismatic yet chilling charm of Twisted Wonderland’s fairest of them all, Alexssewscosplay brought Vil to life with a grace and confidence that left us all spellbound. From the halls of Night Raven College straight to the con floor, every step radiated poise and power, and we couldn’t help but declare them the fairest one of all.
The craftsmanship was nothing short of magical: custom-patterned garments, intricate hand embroidery, and even a mesmerizing light-up book was aglow with its own mysterious energy. We couldn’t possibly pick a single detail to start with. You’ll just have to see it for yourself and fall under the spell, like the rest of us did.
Their attention to detail extended to every element, including a perfectly styled and dyed wig that captured Vil’s signature blend of elegance and obsession with beauty. It’s clear that every shimmer, stitch, and spark was crafted to reflect the duality of the character. Dazzlingly and beautiful, yet dangerously vain.
And perhaps the most fitting detail of all? Like a story straight out of a fairytale, this cosplay feels just a bite away from a poisoned apple, stunning, a true masterpiece from an artist who understands that beauty, after all, is a little magic… and maybe just a little wicked.
