Among the headliners will be actors from Shazam!, Guardians of the Galaxy and Harry Potter, as well as voices from Dragon Ball, Scooby Doo and Batman: The Animated Series.
Tampa, FL (August 3, 2019) – Tampa will see large numbers of cosplayers downtown with tens of thousands of attendees expected at the Tampa Bay Comic Con on August 2-4 at the Tampa Convention Center.
Attendance regularly surpasses 50,000 to see the large roster of comic industry professionals, celebrities who meet and greet attendees as well as exhibitors that cater to a wide-spectrum of interests including comic books, magazines, toys, games, Star Wars, Star Trek, anime, manga, cosplay, artwork, sketches and apparel.
“Tampa Bay Comic Con is more than just a comic con, rather it’s an opportunity to experience the largest comic convention in the southeastern U.S.,” said Dewey Caruthers with Florida Comic Cons, a fan and news media website of comic conventions in Florida that reports the latest con news and posts ongoing blogs for the fandom.
Comic cons are a pop-culture phenomenon sweeping the U.S., according to Caruthers, who notes the Tampa Bay Comic Con will draw a similar number of people as a Tampa Bay Buccaneers home game in 2018, which had an average attendance of 54,356 according to ESPN.
There are eight headlining celebrity guests who will be making their debut appearances, which include:
• Michael Rooker, actor who played Yondu Udonta in Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
• Bonnie Wright, British actor who played Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter film series
• Asher Angel, actor who portrays Billy Batson in the DC: Extended Universe film Shazam!
There are nine additional celebrity guests including the following voice actors:
• Kyle Hebert in anime and video game series like Dragon Ball and Street Fighter
• Grey Delisle in animated films, television shows and video games like The Fairly Odd Parents, Scooby Doo and Avatar: The Last Airbender
• Kevin Conroy in Batman: The Animated Series
• Bob West, the original voice of Barney
And, there are nearly 30 comic creator guests. Writers like Peter David (Wolverine) and Melinda M. Snodgrass (Star Trek: The Next Generation). Artists include: Greg Hildebrandt (Star Wars); Tracy Yardley (Sonic the Hedgehog); Linda Reinhold (Spiderman); Neal Adams (Green Lantern Green Arrow); and Joel Adams (King of the Hill).
Saturday-only ticket price is $40 (plus $7 in fees and taxes), and three-day admission tickets are $60.
