Comic cons are back in Florida this summer
Comic conventions are back in Florida this summer! There are more than 10 cons scheduled from June through August 2021, reports Florida Comic Cons, a news media website that maintains the most comprehensive calendar of comic conventions. Nearly every part of Florida has at least one con this summer. Here’s what’s coming your way:
June comic cons
June 5-6: Infinity Con Tallahassee
Infinity Con Tallahasee features comic book, science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and pop culture genres. The event describes itself as a “celebration of creativity with artists, writers, cosplayers, makeup and horror movie special effects.”
June 6: Lake Collect-A-Con, Leesburg
Lake Collect-A-Con, in its eleventh year, is at the Lake Square Mall and admission is free. Organizers expect 2,000 attendees this year.
June 12-13: Central Florida Comic Con in Lakeland
The pop culture, media, and comic book convention describes itself as “a celebration of comics, toys, TV, film, art, cosplay, games, and all things nerdy!” There are discussion panels, a cosplay contest and vendors offering a wide range of merchandise.
June 26: Villicon in Orlando
Villicon is a horror convention with science fiction and fantasy programming. Organizers ask you to “unleash your darker side with this celebration of all things evil and vile.”
July comic cons
July 17-18: Bold Matsuri in Jacksonville
Bold Matsuri is an annual anime and cosplay festival that features a wide range of celebrity guests, the latest gaming, and cosplay-focused after-hour events.
July 23-25: Metrocon in Tampa
Metrocon is a four-day anime convention that provides fans with more than 100,000 square feet of vendors and artists and nearly 500 hours of scheduled shows, panels, contests and gaming. The entertainment-based event, which is steeped in original programming, has become Florida’s largest anime convention.
July 30-August 1: Tampa Bay Comic Convention in Tampa
Tampa Bay Comic Convention is one of the largest cons in the southeastern U.S. The annual event features exhibitors and guests that cater to a wide-spectrum of interests including comic books, magazines, toys, games, Star Wars, Star Trek, anime, manga, cosplay, artwork, sketches and apparel – to mention only a few. The con is known for hosting high-profile celebrities.
August comic cons
August 6-8: Omni Fan Expo in Kissimmee
Omni Fandom Expo is a multi-genre comic convention that attracts all fandoms ranging from science fiction and anime to gaming and pop culture – and, of course, comics.
August 12-15: Megacon Orlando
Megacon Orlando is one of largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime, and gaming conventions in the nation. The annual event attracts more than 100,000 people over four days.
August 20-22: Fanboy Expo Orlando
This convention has a wide array of big-time guest celebrities as well as comic artists and authors.
August 28-29: Ultracon of South Florida in West Palm Beach
Ultracon of South Florida offers a broad spectrum of entertainment from panels to after-parties to a gaming tournament with $10,000 in prizes.
Florida Cosplay Digital Magazine will be at many cons
Florida Cosplay Digital Magazine, published by Florida Comic Cons, will be at many of the comic cons listed above in search of talented cosplayers (stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram for updates).
