Anime voice actor Aaron Dismuke who voices popular characters like Tamaki Amajiki from My Hero Academia and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist is scheduled to appear at a new anime convention in St. Petersburg, Florida called “Anime St. Pete” on September 17-18 at the Coliseum. Also, Dismuke voices the lead character in beloved anime shows like Dr. Stone and Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Aaron Dismuke’s career recently hit the 20-year mark, and he is only 28-years-old. “I have decades of experience in voice acting,” he jokes. Dismuke began voice acting at age 9 (bet that makes you feel like a slacker-kid). In addition, Dismuke has more than 100 English dubbing performances in anime dating back to 2002. Three photos below span from the young Aaron Dismuke to the current one.

Favorite character # 1: Tamaki Amajiki from My Hero Academia
In 2018, he was cast as Tamaki Amajiki from My Hero Academia, a role he continues today. Dismuke channels his personal social anxiety as a teen for his role as the anxious character. “If I was in front of the class, my voice would quiver, my hands would shake, and I would begin to sweat,” he said. “To those who share this experience of social anxiety, I can relate!”
If you’re not familiar with Tamaki Amajiki, you must be too busy fighting villains. If so, the image and short video below introduces you to the cute, awkward character, voiced by Dismuke.
Favorite character # 2: Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist
Fullmetal Alchemist frequently tops polls as one of the most popular anime shows of all time. Dismuke voices Alphonse Elric, a role he portrayed at age 12. Among his favorite Alphonse moments are “Whenever Al is being irrational and emotional with the kittens,” he said.
Favorite character # 3: Senku Ishigami from Dr. Stone
Dr. Stone is Dismuke’s favorite show among all the anime and cartoon series he has appeared. “Dr. Stone is a super smart show,” he said. “It’s made me feel a much wider range of emotions than I thought I could.” Dismuke voices Senku Ishigami from Dr. Stone.
Favorite character # 4: Hanzo Urushihara in The Devil is a Part-Timer!
Dismuke voices Hanzo Urushihara in The Devil is a Part-Timer!. A prominent storyline of Hanzo Urushihara is his irritation with being referred to as a hikikomori or NEET, which are Japanese people who have acute social withdrawal. NEET involves a total withdrawal from society where people seek social isolation and confinement. Estimates indicate that more than 1 million Japanese have become social recluses, with half being teens and the other half being middle-aged adults. “People like to see themselves in the characters they are rooting for,” Dismuke said.

Favorite character # 5: Hiro Sohma and Akito Sohma from Fruits Basket
What were you doing when you were nine-years-old? Dismuke was working his first job as an anime voice actor. His first characters were Hiro Sohma (image below left) and the young Akito Sohma (image below right) from Fruits Basket (2001). And check out Hiro’s first appearance, voice by the young Dismuke (video below).
Favorite character # 6: Miyuki Shirogane in Kaguya-sama: Love is War
Dismuke voices Miyuki Shirogane, who is the main character of the hugely popular manga and anime series Kaguya-sama: Love is War. The character often earns the highest seeds and most favorites in anime character popularity contests. Watch how much fun Dismuke had voicing on Kaguya-sama: Love is War in this chaotic video!
Favorite character # 7: Oscar Pine from RWBY
RWBY (pronounced “ruby”) is an acronym named from the four main characters’ forenames: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang; and their respective theme colors: red, white, black and yellow. The show is still in production with more episodes coming in 2022. Dismuke voices Oscar Pine, an awkward teenager who is a farmhand and later becomes a brave hero. Oscar Pine is one of the main characters of the show.
Favorite character # 8: Beetle in Beetle + Bean on Cartoon Network
Dismuke’s role as Beetle (the blue one in the image below) in Beetle + Bean on Cartoon Network is one of his first cartoon roles. And the show is from Emmy award-winning animator Nick Edwards. Check out the Beetle + Bean short to learn more about the Cartoon Network show that is earning praise from critics and is growing in popularity (video below).
